Most machining operations proce parts of differing geometry.
不同的機加工可產生不同的幾何形狀的工件。
If a rough cylindrical workpoece revolves about a central axis and the tool pentrates beneath its surface and travels parallel to the center of rotation, a surface of revolution is proced (Fig.9-1(a)),and the operation is called turning.
如果一個圓柱體繞其中心軸旋轉，同時刀具切入其表面並平行於旋轉軸進給，那麼這個運動就叫做「車」(Fig.9-1(a))。
If a hollow tube is machined on the inside in a similar manner ,the operation is called boring (Fig.9-1(b)).

Procing an external conical surface of uniformly varying diameter is called taper turning (Fig.9-1(c)).
