2. Materials and methods
Six lots of seeds of soybean variety 『『MACS-13』』 were selected at three different m:c:』s and their
germination was determined (Table 1). Each lot was processed on the seed processing machinery
shown in Fig. 1. This comprised a vertical steel bucket elevator, air-screen cleaner with grader,
and specific gravityseparator. Each seed lot was fed into the hopper of the vertical bucket elevator
(Fig. 1). The elevator cups lifted the seed to 6.1m and then delivered the seed to the hopper of an air-screen cleaner with grader through the delivery pipe. The hopper of the air-screen cleaner
was 4.2m from the ground level. From there, the seed was passed over a gravityseparator
whose hopper was 2.0m from ground level and was finally collected in a jute bag held at ground
level.
